Come Near

Come near to God and He will come near to you. James 4:8

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. NKJV
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. KJV
The same words from a different translation - James 4:8

It is a two part process. If you come to God – Then God will come to you. No qualifications.

What does this mean?            Has God come ever come near to me first? Yes.

How can I practically do this?            What does God want from me?

What will be God's reaction to me?         Will God Come Near

What does The Bible mean when it tells us to “Come near to God”?

It means: You are to Come near to God, You are to draw near to God, You are to come close to God, and You are to approach God just as you are. This is written to you, the reader of this Bible verse. The Bible is to be read plainly for it is Trustworthy.

You are to take the initiative and come to the Lord God Almighty. You are to be aware of Him and approach God just as He is and just as you are.

God has been watching you and approaching you since you were born. All day and night God proclaims to you Who He is and How He is. Long ago He came here to walk the earth and declared His Presence to be known. God communicates with everyone. About 2000 years ago He took The Obstacle away which would keep you from Him. God sent His Son Jesus to reveal to you in practical ways Who God is and how He is. God loved us first (1 John 4:19, Romans 5:8) and proved it with His life, death, and resurrection.

God has made advances to you for all of your life. God communicates with everyone through nature (Romans 1:19-20), people, circumstance, His Son, our “better” thoughts, and much more. (Read how God communicates) Do not turn God away. He is the Only Way for you to get out of the pain, loneliness, frustration, and internal heart situation you are in.

Now is the time  for you to approach God in return, for He is eagerly waiting for you to Come Now!

Does God really want you to come to Him? Yes, Jesus says “Come to Me”

How can I practically approach God?

“Come near to God” means in HebrewPursue an intimate relationship with God. Come to God intimately. Come to Him without any boundaries, as best you can. Draw near to God knowing He is waiting with open loving arms for you. Have your heart longing for deep fellowship and communion with God. Yearn to hear His Voice (John 10:27-30) and submit to His Heart’s desires (John 14:21). Delight in God (Psalm 37:4), and Who He is

Come to God confidentially, personally, boldly, thoroughly, tenderly, or however you can – even with your anger, pain, and hurt – for God is BIG enough to accept you and love you through whatever you are going through.

Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." Mark 10:27

Practically speaking - How can we come near to God? Isn’t He up there in heaven somewhere? Am I to go to a church building and sit close to the front to be near Him? You can do that, but you’ve God is not limited to a church building. You've got much greater freedom than that!

Jesus declared, "Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.  Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." John 4:21,23-24

"But will God really dwell on earth with men? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!” 2 Chronicles 6:18

Are we to think about God a lot and will that do it? Yes, that’s part of it. Psalm 1:1-2,3,6

Come to God with your voice, your ears, your heart, your hands, and your mind. Come to God with your emotions, your perceptions, your agendas, and your values. You are not perfect, and God does not expect you to be. Only Jesus His Son was perfect. God already knows you, where you've been, what you've done, and what others think of you. Those are facts He already knows. You cannot, nor never could, hide from God.

God wants your heart and your will. (Mark 12:30) God wants to protect you from evil (John 10:11). God wants you to love Him in return because of all the love He imparts to you first, through His Son Jesus. God wants you because He is jealous for you.

Remember God is God, and we are not. Psalm 8, Psalm 39:5, 39:11, Psalm 62:9 Man's life is fleeting - God has permanence and power. God is Sovereign, we are His subjects, willingly or unwillingly. If we are willing, God Makes us His Children. If we are unwilling, then we stay children of the devil.

Come to God being who you are, just as you are, talking honestly, sincerely, and truthfully with the Lord God Almighty. God wants a relationship with you based upon your being real with Him, and God being all Good and Powerful. The relationship is based upon you relying on Him, trusting what He says in the Bible and doing what He teaches you. God knows more and better than anyone. It is only sensible to trust Him.  (I need faith. I have fear.)

“Come near to God” is written in the present tense. That means you are to come to God NOW. Yes, you can also do it tomorrow. If you did so yesterday, that is good, but this sentence always means NOW. Come near to God NOW, this moment, right where you are, as you are, without any excuses, rationalizations, or compromises. God wants us near to Him every moment. God is Jealous For you.

Therefore, Practically speaking, You are to come God this way: “Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” James 4:8

Are you offended by these words from the Bible?

God is harsh.            I am a Christ follower already.            I agree with this.

If you are not familiar with the God of the Bible. If you are not certain that you are fully accepted by the Lord God Almighty, If you do not know that you are God's child according to the Bible, then these words and links are for you.

Now is the acceptable time to accept Jesus as Who He says He is.

Do you have Reasons not to Believe?

Do you want to know Who God is.     Did you know, if you accept God's way, He will accept you

God gives The Big Picture and the reasons for World Violence

God tells you and me of the many ways we can offend Him, a Holy God. God calls it sin. God tells us the many types of sins there are. God gives us a list of do's and don'ts BUT God shows us that within a personal relationship with Him we can overcome the sins and enjoy His Presence through all circumstances.

The Bible tells us how we can talk with God.

The Bible tells us how we can be God's child, safe from His wrath and condemnation, in His permanent and faithful love forever.

Jesus invites you, "Come to Me". I love you with an Everlasting Love

"Cast your Cares" on Me, I want to heal your Broken Heart

Invite Me in to help clean your inner Room

God teaches you how to have a deep, real, and freeing Friendship with God.

God will not leave or forsake anyone who takes God into his or her heart. This is the reason: because anyone in Christ is a New Creature and Jesus gives His followers His Holy Spirit Who lives in them permanently. God has designed you to be with God will you accept his will for your life? He is drawing you near with His Loving Kindness. Will you come to Him?     Sinner's Prayer

Do you accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior? If you do, the Lord Jesus Christ accepts you as His child and will keep you and bring you into Heaven when your life on earth is over.

(Jesus gives His followers the Holy Spirit - Matthew 3:11, John 14:16,26, John 16:7, John 15:26, John 20:21-22, 1 Corinthians 2:6-16,  Ephesians 1:13 , 1 Corinthians 6:19,  Ephesians 4:30, Mark 13:11)
