Sinful Life

A sinful life is a life led in rebellion against God.

Home Page

Sin is any word, action, thought or emotion that you have done that goes against the Living and  Holy God's Will and desire for your life.  God's Laws tell of the sins people commit against a Holy God.  Below you will find other sins.

The result of sin is death.  Not just death of your physical body, but the death of your soul.  Eternal death.  That is why it is so painful to live your life if you are sinning.  But sinning is not permanent if you choose to give yourself to Jesus Christ.  True internal joy only comes from being God's own child... which comes when you are born again, or born into the family of God.

God Loves You.  And he continually seeks you out to have you come to Him.  God made you for one reason alone.  God made you to love you and to live in friendship with you.  However, God cannot love you if you keep running away from Him.  That is what sin is... running away from God and living separate from God.  Righteousness is running toward God and living with God.

But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.  Proverbs 4:19

Sins against God

For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.    1 Chronicles 16:26

You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.... You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me...    Exodus 20:4,5

The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods.    Psalm 16:4

Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.  Therefore God gave them over in their sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.  They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator - who is forever praised.  Amen.    Romans 1:22-25

Therefore say to the house of Israel, "This is what the Sovereign Lord says:  Repent!  Turn from your idols and renounce all your detestable practices!"    Ezekiel 14:6

An idol is anything that you pay attention to more than God Almighty.  If you care more about how you look, how you dress,  who you are seen with...What others think of you.... then you are not seeking what the Sovereign God thinks of you.  Instead, something else is more important to you than God.  If you spend hours a day in front of the TV, watching women, drinking, gathering money, acquiring toys, and you have not weighed your thoughts and actions with God's written word, the Bible, nor asked His counsel in prayer, then that thing you do may be your idol.   If there is a person, place or thing that you value more than Jesus Christ, then it is an idol. Words and Actions reveal the content of the heart.  What love of God do your actions show??

*****************************

They must be holy to their God and must not profane the name of their God.     Leviticus 21:6    ( To profane the name of God means to say God's name aloud without being in conversation with God Himself, otherwise known as cursing.)

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.  Romans 1:21       (An unthankful heart)

People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy...    2Timothy 3:2

They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.  They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice.  They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents...    Romans 1:29

Because you did not serve the Lord God joyfully and gladly in the time of prosperity, therefore in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and dire poverty, you will serve the enemies the Lord sends against you.  He will put an iron yoke around your neck until He has destroyed you.   Deuteronomy 28:47,48

"I have seen these...stiff-necked people.  Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them."  Exodus 32:9,10

Blessed is the man who always fears the Lord, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.    Proverbs 28:14

Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker... Isaiah 45:9

We should not test the Lord, as some of them did - and were killed by snakes.  1 Corinthians 10:9

But those who hate Him He will repay to their face by destruction; He will not be slow to repay to their face those who hate Him.  Deuteronomy 7:10

"The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that what it does is evil."   John 7:7

God, who is enthroned forever, will hear them and afflict them - men who never change their ways and have no fear of God.  Psalm 55:19

Sins of the Spirit

He who loves pleasure will become poor;  Proverbs 21:17

Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is their shame.  Their mind is on earthly things.  Philippians 3:19

You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence.  You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.  James 5:5

One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys.  Proverbs 18:9  (slack means lazy)

He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.  Proverbs 28:27

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.  Proverbs 1:7

God's Attitude toward Sin

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient.  Ephesians 5:6

"I hate divorce," says the Lord God of Israel   Malachi 2:16

There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him;  haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours our lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.   Proverbs 6:16-19

You alone are to be feared.  Who can stand before You when you are angry?  Psalm 76:7

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness... Romans 1:18

However, if you do not obey the Lord your God ...  all these curses will come upon you...  Deuteronomy 28:15-68

God's Option to Sin

See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction...Now choose life...

Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O Lord, the God of truth.  Psalm 31:5

The Lord redeems his servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in Him.    Psalm 34:22

He provided redemption for his people; He ordained his covenant forever - holy and awesome is His name.  Psalm 111:9

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him.  Psalm 62:1

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of  God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 6:23

AS you grow in relationship, fellowship, and friendship with the Lord Jesus Christ, He will let you know through the Holy Spirit things that you do wrong.  When you recognize that pain in your spirit,  then you can quickly, right then and there, say in the quiet of your heart  "I am sorry for what I did!  Please forgive me Jesus.  Please help me to not do that again."    "If we confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to forgive us and take our sins away." 1John 1:9  If we turn away from our wrongdoing, our sin, then we are choosing to walk in friendship with God and we are in His favor.  God's blessings will be upon us, and we will not be walking into trouble.   We will be leading a life of righteousness.

How to stay out of sin:  God makes it clear that to not repeat of sin we must first be born again, and then read His Word often, which is the Bible,  remember His Word, pray and listen to Him, and obey and serve Him out of Love for Him.
