Everlasting Love

The Lord says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love." Jeremiah 31:3

The Lord God is telling you how He feels about you!! The Lord God says to you, intimately and personally: "I have loved you with an everlasting love!" I love you!! I always have and I always will love you. My love for you has always been. My love for you will never end. My love for you heals. My love for you gives you life. My love for you makes you grow. My love for you was from before you were born. My love for you is from before the world was made - and it will never end. (Psalm 103; Psalm 147:3; Matt 19:2; John 5:21; Eph 4:15; 2Pet 3:18)

My love for you is as a good friend loves, for I am Faithful and True, Trustworthy, Righteous and Holy. I am Love and I can only Love. I cannot change. I have loved you before, and still now, and I will love you in the future. Nothing you can ever do Can ever change My love for you. For I am God. God is Love. My character cannot change.

I have drawn you with loving-kindness. Jer 31:3

The Lord says to you, "I have drawn you with loving-kindness." I have been in control and have called you to Myself. I have extended My mercy and grace to pull you to Myself. I have sown seeds of My Word . I have planted My love around you for you to sense My love for you. I pull you to Myself for My own sake, for My pleasure in loving-kindness. ~"For My own Name's sake I delay My wrath; for the sake of My praise I hold it back from you, so as not to cut you off." Isa 48:9

I sent you My own dear Son Jesus Christ in My mercy to take the punishment for your sins. Jesus died on the cross for what you have done so that nothing will be able to separate you from My Love. For it is by Grace through Faith that I alone give you in order to receive My Son Jesus Christ as the atonement  for your sins. I have done all things to make it possible for you to come to Me and have Me make you a new creature .

I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt. Jer 31:4

God is promising to you that He will build you up.  God will build you upon His secure and firm foundation. You will be rebuilt, because as you submit to God's Will, God will build the foundation. For God's Word is True and sure.  - The Lord Himself takes responsibility to building you up continually and without ceasing.  While you meditate day and night on His Words to you, He is renewing your mind to the mind of Christ. From the moment you come to the Lord seeking His forgiveness, with a sincere and humble heart, giving Him your heart and making Him the Lord over your life, hence forth, the Lord will rebuild you.

As you continually give the Lord more control over every facet of your will and life, God promises to continually build you up In Jesus Christ, through Him and with Him.  Rom 12:2

The Lord God will accomplish all that He has set forth to do, for He alone is Holy, Trustworthy and Capable. God knows that you and I are not capable. That is why the Lord God has drawn us to Himself.  The Lord wants to save you on His own behalf for His own purpose.

God knows full well that we can never accomplish righteousness or holiness. That is why the Lord God sent His only Son, the Messiah, Jesus Christ, to die for your sins and mine.  He sent us the Holy Spirit to renew us - to make us new, and to teach us His Law inscribed in to our hearts.  Your joy will be full, and peace and the fruit of the Holy Spirit will abide in you.

Bring me to the Detailed Study of Jeremiah 31:4

Study of Jeremiah 31:3a

The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love.  Jeremiah 31:3-4

The Name of the "LORD" used here in Hebrew means >> Eternal, Jehovah, self-existent. The One with no beginning and no end. "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "Who is, and Who was, and Who is to come, the Almighty." Rev. 1:8; 21:6; 22:13.

"Loved" in Hebrew means to have affection for, like the love of a friend who is helping and by your side through good times and bad. Unconditional Love, wanting only the best for you. "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. Prov. 17:14

"Everlasting" in Hebrew means "concealed to the vanishing point". That means you cannot see it's beginning nor its end!! It is beyond time; Eternity, always, continual, forever, eternal, perpetual. Only the Lord God Almighty Who is and was and forever will be can offer Everlasting Love!! Rev. 1:8

Putting this all together:

The Lord, the One who has always existed, IS the One Who has always loved you. The Lord God is always loving you without any condition. You do not have to do anything to achieve His Love, He gives it to you automatically!! You cannot do anything to increase or decrease His Love for you. The Lord's Love for you is for helping you as you need it, for healing you, giving you life, and for making you grow. God's Love for you is Everlasting. It is beyond measure. It is beyond viewing. It is vast and permeates everything about you!!

Thought questions:  How have you experienced God's amazing love?  How have you seen His Love in action?   Are you alive?  Can you see, hear or sense the many wonderful things creations on this planet and in the heavens?    Do you realize that the fact that you are reading this is proof that God wants you to trust and love Him with your heart and life?  What greater love is there than that of God's love for you?  -None exist, nor ever can.  Will you surrender to His unconditional love for you now?  YES!

Study of Jeremiah 31:3b

The LORD appeared to us … saying: "… I have drawn you with loving-kindness."

"Drawn" in Hebrew means to sow, like planting seeds for the purpose of growing and bearing fruit (Matthew 13:1-23). To draw means to develop, continue to call, to sound like a trumpet call, to stretch out…

"Loving-kindness" means in Hebrew, "Mercy and kindness". Mercy is choosing to reach beyond the sin in order to help the sinner. Pity, tenderhearted compassion, goodness and steadfast love, which shows an attitude of loyalty and faithfulness.

Putting this all together:

The Lord has told you that He has planted His Word in you for the purpose of growing you In Him. The Lord wants you to bear fruit of good things, and that His Love will make this all possible. The Lord has called you by name (Isaiah 45:4-13), stretched out His hand to you, having been merciful and kind to you because He wants you to be in a loving relationship with Himself. The Lord has prepared a way for you to be in a loving relationship with Himself. Jesus Christ, His own Son, came down to earth to carry your sins away. Rom 5:8 God is always loving you, but the Lord knows that you need to Love Him in return. If you do not walk with Him in Love on this earth, then, by your own actions will not be walking with Him in Heaven later. Matt 10:32,33  Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. Isa 59:1

Thought questions:  How have you sensed the Lord God drawing you, pulling you, calling you to Himself?   Surely the fact that you are reading this is one way of knowing that you are responding to His call upon your life.  Is there an emptiness, an aching need that has never been met?  Are you hungering for a True Love that is Forever Faithful?  Are you seeking intimacy on the most divine level?  Only a reciprocated love with the Lord God Almighty can fill that hole in your heart!  Only through the Lord Jesus Christ can anyone receive true and lasting Joy, peace that surpasses all  understanding, and unconditional love!   "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Rom 15:13  Would you like to receive the Lord's Love?  YES!

Study of Jeremiah 31:4

The LORD appeared to us …saying: " I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt, O Virgin Israel. Again you will take up your tambourines and go out to dance with the joyful." Jeremiah 31:3-4

"Build" in Hebrew, means to begin to build, repair, to set up securely and surely. This refers to the foundation set by the Lord God. Jesus Christ is our cornerstone (Ps 118:22,23; Isa 28:16; Matt 21:42; Eph 2:20) and upon this rock the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matt 16:15-18).  Also see above verses!

"Again" in Hebrew, means >>again, repeatedly, still more, henceforth, all life long, further, yet within. This refers to the ongoing, continual growth in Christ Jesus, through the Holy Spirit. ( Acts 2:4; 9:17;Eph 5:18; Rom 12:2; 1Peter 2:2)

"You will be" means certainty. Definite, fact. Confident of future events and results.

Joyful  supported by John 17:13; Acts 13:52; 16:34; Rom 14:17; Psalms 5:11; 16:11; 66:1; 95:1; 149:3,5; 150:4

Putting this all together:  The Lord is telling you that henceforth from your allowing Him to rebuild you, the Lord will rebuild you, continually, securely, and firmly with Himself as the foundation.  The Lord will begin rebuilding you from the moment you come to Him with a sincere and humble heart, seeking His forgiveness and giving Him your heart, making Him the Lord over every facet of Your Life. From the moment you surrender your will to the Lord God Almighty, He will be enabled to rebuild you. God takes responsibility (Phil 1:6) to build you up continually, definitely.

As you continually give Him more control over every facet of your Will and Life, the Lord promises to continually build you up in , through and with Jesus Christ.-- renewing the mind (Rom 12:2), spirit (Eph 4:23), body (1Cor 16:3; Rom 6:13,23; 2Cor 5:5-9), healing (Acts 3:16), giving back what the locusts have eaten (Joel2: 24-26).  "being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Phil 1:6

The Lord will continually change you and increase your strength and foundation in Himself, definitely. When God says He will do something, He will do it. Nothing is more powerful than God (Job 38-41). However, the only thing that can block His success in our lives is our Sin.  It us up to you and me to be willing to allow the Lord to be Lord of our thoughts, desires, actions, emotions, bodies....  The Lord God will accomplish what He has set forth to do, for He alone is Holy, Trustworthy and Capable, if we have become a new creation in Him. God knows that you and I are not capable. That is why the Lord God has drawn you to himself.  He wants to save you from your owns sins for His own purpose and glory.  Prov 11:20

God knows full well that You and I can never accomplish righteousness or holiness. - That is why He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, and sent us the Holy Spirit to renew us - to make us new, and to teach us His Law inscribed in to our heart.  "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people."  Jer 31:33  When you surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the fruit of the Holy Spirit will abound in you!!

Thought questions:   Do you find things go easily in your life?  Or do you feel like you are crumbling inside under the pressures of your life?  Have you been in control of your life only to find out that it is out of control?     ~None of us is ever in complete control, and the control we think we have is only an illusion.  Only the Lord God has any and complete control.  It is because of our own stubborn willfulness that sin takes over and messes each of our lives.  It is because the Lord God loves you sooo much that He wants to rescue you from your own sin and rebuild you to righteousness, love,  peace and joy...!!  The Lord God is calling you.  God is wanting you to allow Him to rebuild your foundation (Matt 7:24-28) so that the fabric of your life can stand the test of time, in God's Love for eternity!!  The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. Ps 34:17 "   "The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God, the Rock, my Savior!"  2 Sam 22:47  Would you like to be delivered to righteousness?  Do you want to start over again?

Background information:

Jeremiah the prophet was a Jewish priest of the household of Hilkiah from the territory of Benjamin. He began prophesying in Judah midway through the reign of King Josiah and through four more kingly reigns, from 640BC -586BC. This was a time of turbulence and stress for many nations, including Judah. Jeremiah pronounced judgment on the sins of his people and scolded them severely for their idolatry. Jeremiah endured much hostility from his enemies. However, he loved the people of Judah despite their sins. But for Jeremiah, the Lord God was the most important. He was always conscious of his call from the Lord to be a prophet. (Jer 1:4-19) Jeremiah spoke that it was the individual's responsibility to be accountable to the Lord. (Jer 31:29-30)

In the Book of Jeremiah, the Lord brings to his people the charges of their sin. The Lord shows that no one is upright and that He will bring a distant nation to destroy them. (Jer. 5:1-2,12-15,25) However, the Lord also makes a promise of the Messiah for the purpose: "So you will be my people and, and I will be your God." (Jer. 23:5-6; 30:21-22; 31:31-34) O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. 1 Chr. 16:34

Further Reading:  For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Ps 100:5    I have always loved you, with a love that is everlasting! My love never ends!! The Lord's love for you is unconditional. The Lord's love is strong and powerful. The Lord seeks you out! The Lord calls your name! Draws you in His loving kindness!        Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. Isa 59:1

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- Eph 2:8        The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 1 Tim 1:14        Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring--not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all. Rom 4:16        Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Matt 19:26        Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." Mark 10:27

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.  Eph 2:13-22
