Temptation

Temptation - the process of being tempted.

Tempt - To test the strength of.  To try to persuade, entice, induce or provoke you to do something immoral or wrong  -  usually using the lie that it will be worth the risk to life, health and relationships with others, including God.

Jesus tells you to ask God: "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Mt 6:13          "Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation." Lk 11:4 Jesus tell us to "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." Mt 26:41 "Why are you sleeping?" He asked them. "Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation." Lk 22:46

God's Word states:  No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1Cor 10:13         People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 1Tim 6:9

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, James 1:2         Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Gal 6:1         Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted. Heb 2:18         For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our  weaknesses, but we have One Who has been tempted in every way, just as we are–yet was without sin. Heb 4:15

When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. James 1:13-14     *Read James 1:2-18 for more help!
